JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria 2026

Age Limit	No upper age limit is set for taking the JEE Main exam itself. However, for admission into top institutes like NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, general category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001. For PWD, SC, or ST candidates, a 5-year relaxation applies, meaning they must be born on or after October 1, 1996.
Qualifying Exam	Requires a pass certificate from Class 12 or an exam recognized as equivalent.
Year of Passing the Qualifying Exam	Only students who passed their 12th grade in 2024 or 2025, or those appearing for the exam in 2026, are eligible to apply for JEE Main.
Number of Attempts	Candidates are allowed to appear in the JEE Main for a maximum of three consecutive years starting from their qualifying exam year. The exam offers two attempts annually.
