RRB JE 2026 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for RRB JE 2026 for CBT 1 and CBT 2 Exam, as declared by the Railway Recruitment Board is as follows-

  • Negative marking: -⅓ mark
  • Duration: CBT 1- 90 minutes and CBT 2- 120 minutes.
  • Number of Question: In CBT 1, there will be 100 questions, and in CBT 2, there will be 150 questions.

RRB JE CEN 2026 — Document Upload Requirements

  • Live Photograph:
    1. Capture your photo directly on the portal using a webcam — pre-saved images can’t be uploaded here.
    2. Make sure your face is clearly visible against a plain, light background.
    3. File must be 30–70 KB, in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Signature (Scanned):
    1. Sign in your natural cursive handwriting on plain white paper — signatures in block or capital letters will be rejected.
    2. The signature should fit within a 50 mm × 20 mm box.

  • SC/ST Caste Certificate (for free railway travel pass):
    1. Must be a valid caste/community certificate issued by an authorized government official.
    2. File should not exceed 500 KB, and must be in PDF format.

    1. A passport-sized photo of the person assigned as your scribe.
    2. File must be 30–70 KB, in JPG/JPEG format.

  1. Visit the official website rrbapply.gov.in or the website of your respective regional RRB.
  2. Find and open the “CEN 04/2026 – Junior Engineer (JE), DMS & CMA” recruitment link.
  3. Register yourself by providing a valid mobile number and email ID and complete OTP verification.
  4. Log in and fill out the application form with your personal details, educational qualifications, post preferences, and RRB zone.
  5. Upload the required documents, including your scanned signature, and complete the live photograph process as instructed.
  6. Pay the applicable application fee through UPI, Debit/Credit Card, or Net Banking.
  7. Carefully review all the details, submit the application form, and download/print the confirmation page for future reference.

Important: The online application process begins on 14 August 2026 and the last date to apply is 13 September 2026. Candidates are advised to submit their applications well before the deadline.

Q1. How many total vacancies are there?
A total of 3,993 vacancies across all RRB zones.

Q2. What is the application fee?
₹500 for General category candidates; ₹250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minority/EBC candidates. The fee (minus bank charges) is refundable to those who appear for CBT 1.

Q3. What is the age limit?
Generally 18 to 33 years (as reckoned on the notified date), with standard age relaxations for reserved categories — SC/ST get 5 years, OBC-NCL get 3 years, plus further relaxation for Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates.
